Go Reds!!!

We love cheering for the Reds. No idea why but Oran cheers by putting his hands on his head and Lucy has to do the same. We are hoping for a win tonight. Go Reds!!!

A Needed Change

Maybe it's because I am quickly approaching 30, I am not sure. I decided to go straight for a few days. It is the first time I have flat- ironed my hair. After a horrible straightening attempt in high school (involving chemicals and losing small tufts of hair that didn't work anyway), I had doubts about any straightening attempt. I am still in shock that it worked and I LOVE IT! I am so excited for all of the new possiblities this brings.

Just a note...The first picture is before cutting off 3 inches. Isn't that amazing - I cut off 3 inches but it is still longer than before.

To School We Go

Oran began preschool this month. He loves it. I love it. On his first day he runs in his class and says, "This is my class. This is my teacher. Bye Mom." Lucy wishes she went to preschool. Oran had a backpack so Lucy needed a backpack. Oran got a lunchbox so Lucy needed a lunchbox. On preschool days we pack Oran a lunch and Lucy a lunch. When we get to school Oran wears his backpack and carries his lunchbox inside and Lucy insists on doing the same. Oran gets to stay in his class and Lucy leaves with Mom.

The first day was the hardest for Lucy. All the way home I could tell she wasn't talking to me. When we got back home, she emptied some bowls out of the island cabinets and crawled inside with her backpack and lunchbox. There she sat munching on her lunch inside the dark cabinets. Every so often I would hear in her grumpiest voice "Me Preschool". While the days since haven't been as bad as the first, Lucy is still having a hardtime not being at preschool.

A Perfect Day

Nice weather, spending time with family and being outside--a perfect day. For Labor day, Dan was able to break from studying so we went to one of the State Parks. We walked a little trail and visited some Bison or "big animals" according to Lucy. Oran enjoyed counting the Bison.
It is fun to think that in a couple of months Dan will be done with all of his BIG exams and we will be able to spend more time with him.

We Love Our Lucy

Bows, dresses, skirts, shoes, bracelets, and anything else girly are the things Lucy loves. She loves picking out what to wear and would wear her ladybug costume everyday if I let her. She feels she is not dressed until she has bows in her hair. Makeup is another favorite. She loves sitting on the counter while I get ready. She grabs the brushes and will brush them across her cheeks. I dab a little lip gloss on her lips and she turns and blows kisses to the mirror. It makes me smile everyday!

Lucy is less baby and more girl everyday. She turned 18 months on the 3rd of this month and went to nursery for the first time. She loved it! Lucy is a little talker. She loves looking out the window and sharing what she sees, usually it is a car, snow, tree, bird, airplane, or dog. Recently, when she looks out the window she says, "Daddy. Where are you?" and just repeats it over and over. Her daddy is definitely a favorite.

No Excuses

I can't believe how fast the year came to an end. It has been way too long since I blogged. Instead of trying to post all the things on my list of things to post I figured I should condense it or it most likely will be Spring when I get to posting about 2010.

Some of my favorite projects of 2009:

Bird Mobile for Lucy. She loves it. I love it. I really loved making the birds. I did get frustrated with balancing the mobile. I had horrible flash backs to making a mobile in high school physics class. Luckily, Dan knows more about physics than me. He saved the birds from flying out the window. You can get the pattern here.

Quilt for Lucy. This is the first quilt I have made. I really loved making it even though it turned out to be completely different than the quilt I had pictured in my head. I owe a big thanks to Mandy, Rigel and my mom for their help. Lucy loves it. I am excited to try another one.

Diaper Cake for my cute twin nephews. This was really fun to make. I found my tutorial here.

Pine Cone Wreath. The kids helped me gather the pine cones. I thought it would be a really fast project. I would describe making the wreath as a really difficult puzzle. I would guess it took about 6 hours not including gathering all the pine cones. I am just glad I love how it turned out. I found the tutorial here.
